Will I receive an order confirmation via e-mail?

Yes, you will receive an e-mail confirmation within 24 hours.

How can I check the status of an order placed online?

You can check on the status of your order by login to MY ACCOUNT. You will need to type in your username and account password. You can also email us at CustomerCare@AlternativeOutfitters.com.

Can I order by telephone or fax?

Yes, to order by phone, please call (626) 396-4972 or our Toll Free: (866) 758-5837 (United States & Canada) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Please have the descriptions of the items you wish to purchase, along with shipping and credit card information ready when you call. You may fax the same information to (626) 396-4952.

Can orders be shipped to a P.O. Box?
Yes, but they would have to be shipped via US Postal Service (USPS). Additional shipping charge and shipping time may apply.

What happens after I place an order?

When your order is placed on the web site, you will see a "Thank You" page, which will have an online order confirmation number on it. This is confirmation that your order has successfully been placed. Your order is then sent over a secure connection to AlternativeOutfitters.com. You will receive an email confirmation. We usually ship within 24 hours of receiving your order with a confirmed payment. In the rare occasion that we do not have your desired item in stock, we will contact you and advise you of such. Generally, you will get your product within 5-7 business days depending on where you are. Please note our warehouse does not ship on weekends.

What if I do not receive an order confirmation via e-mail?

You will receive an order confirmation message via e-mail shortly after we receive your order. If you do not receive this message within about 30 minutes of placing your order, there might be a delay on the Web due to traffic. Please be sure you enter your e-mail address correctly when you order, or else the delivery confirmation cannot be sent. If you enter the e-mail correctly, and still do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact us. There may have been a problem and we may not have received the order. Also, spam blockers may filter out our e-mails.

Can I cancel an order?

If your order has not already been delivered, or is not on its way to being delivered, we can cancel it. To do so, please contact our customer care department immediately at (626) 396-4972 or toll free: (866) 758-5837. Unfortunately, if your order has already been sent out for delivery, we cannot cancel it.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

Can orders be shipped to foreign countries?

We ship internationally. Please go to our international shipping section for more information.

How much does it cost to ship international orders?

The cost to ship an order internationally depends on the weight of the item(s) that you order and where you are having the order shipped. We calculated Airmail shipping for various weights going to the UK, Australia, and Japan. The prices were all fairly close, so we have listed the average price. Keep in mind that these are approximate average prices and the actual price may vary slightly up or down. One pair of women’s shoes usually weighs about 2 lb and a pair of boots may weigh 4 lb. The prices are in US dollars.

*Please be aware that your country may have additional fees that they charge for items shipped into your country. Unfortunately, we are not made aware of any potential fees that your country may charge when we ship your order. It is the responsibility of the order recipient to find out if there are additional charges. The order recipient is responsible for all surcharges—including customs fees, duties, and taxes if they are applicable.

What is the shipping time on international orders?

It usually takes about 7-10 days to arrive (some destinations are faster than others), but it can take up to 2-4 weeks to arrive. We cannot guarantee shipping times due to customs, etc.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS

What's your return policy?

We want you to be completely happy with your order. Please refer to our Returns and Free Exchanges policy in the Customer Care section.

Why do you no longer offer free return shipping?

In order to survive as a company, we had to either increase the prices of our products or change our return policy. We want to continue to offer reasonably-priced items, so we can no longer offer free return shipping. We appreciate your understanding.

Which shipping options do you offer?

For domestic orders, we offer the following options: FedEx Ground/Home Delivery, FedEx Express (2 Day and Standard Overnight), and US Postal Service. For international orders, we offer US Postal Service. Please refer to our Customer Care section for Shipping and Delivery details.

How are shipping charges calculated?

Charges are calculated based on the dollar value of the order. For International orders the shipping charges are based on the weight of the package and the destination country. Please refer to our Customer Care section for Shipping and Delivery details.

What is the benefit of choosing "Signature Required" during checkout?

Your package will not be left at your front door if you are not home and your package will not be at risk of theft or loss. If you do NOT choose this option, Alternative Outfitters will NOT be responsible if your order is lost or stolen.

Do you carry shoes in Size 5 and Size 11?

Whenever we have the opportunity to order size 5 or size 11 we do. Unfortunately, many of our suppliers do not offer size 5 or 11 in their shoes. That is why you do not see many size 5 or 11s on our site. We do get many requests to carry these sizes and do our best to offer them whenever they are available.

How do I know if the shoes I order will fit me?

We do our best to give you recommendations on how each shoe tends to fit. These notes are located on the details page of each shoe. Please read carefully! It will save you from having to return the shoes for an exchange if you know ahead of time how a particular shoe tends to fit. However, we can never guarantee that a shoe will fit. Everyone’s feet are different and all shoes tend to fit differently. We can only give you recommendations based on the feedback we get from our customers. If for some reason we do not have this information listed on one of the shoes you are interested in, please feel free to contact us at CustomerCare@AlternativeOutfitters.com to find out.

Do you carry narrow or wide widths?

We do not offer narrow or wide widths at this time. All of our shoes are available in a standard medium width.

What if the size or color I want to order does not show up in the drop down choices?

If you do not see the color or size that you are looking for in the drop down choices then it is out of stock and not available. Some items may be on backorder and others may be out of stock for good. You may contact us at CustomerCare@AlternativeOutfitters.com if you want to find out if a particular item will be available again in the future.

We accept the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We also accept payments made through PayPal. Why do I have to pay sales tax?

California state law requires that we charge applicable sales tax on orders shipped to addresses in the state of California. Orders outside of California will not be charged sales tax.

Are the items you sell sweatshop-free?

We believe that it is important that both animals and humans be treated with respect and compassion. We have spoken to all of the shoe companies that we work with as well as many of our other suppliers. We have requested that our suppliers manufacturing outside of the United States and Canada supply us with signed documentation stating that their products are made under fair trade conditions and are not manufactured with child labor or under sweatshop conditions. Unfortunately we don't have the means to visit the manufacturing facilities ourselves, so we have to trust that they are being truthful in their statements.

Do you have a storefront in addition to the website?

Can I send items as gifts?

Yes, you may send any item as a gift. You may also have your item gift wrapped for a small fee. We will include a card when you order gift wrap. You may fill in your gift card message during checkout under "Order Notes". If you do not order gift wrap, we can include your message on the invoice included with your order. If you do not want the payment information included with your gift, please let us know. You can include a little note to us in the “Order Notes” section during checkout or you can send an email to CustomerCare@AlternativeOutftters.com.

May I purchase or redeem gift certificates online?

Yes, you may purchase gift certificates online. To redeem gift certificates online, please enter the certificate number at the appropriate point in the checkout process. If you don't use all the amount of the certificate at once, the balance will remain available for future purchases.
